Bus mechanics keep the industry moving.  They repair and service buses and other vehicles in a bus company’s fleet.  Their work is never the same and always offers new challenges.  Bus mechanics have a lot of responsibility and often work independently with minimum supervision.  They enjoy a secure, but exciting job and usually good benefits.  They also often have access to ongoing training programs.

Responsibilities:

• Performs inspections, routine maintenance and repairs on buses
• Troubleshoots, often using computers
• May perform roadside repairs
• Ensures all vehicles operate safely and efficiently

Compensation:
$28,000 - $50,000

Training:

• High-school education is required
• Must complete an Truck and Transport apprenticeship or take courses at a college to become certified
• Some training is on-the-job
• Ongoing training is available at colleges
• Financial assistance may be available
