Bus mechanics keep the industry moving.  They repair and service buses and other vehicles in a bus company’s fleet.  Their work is never the same and always offers new challenges.  Bus mechanics have a lot of responsibility and often work independently with minimum supervision.  They enjoy a secure, but exciting job and usually good benefits.  They also often have access to ongoing training programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs inspections, routine maintenance and repairs on buses
  • Troubleshoots, often using computers
  • May perform roadside repairs
  • Ensures all vehicles operate safely and efficiently

Required Skills:
Depending on their position Bus Mechanics need some or all of these skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong sense of responsibility and safety-consciousness
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Good communication skills

Compensation:
$28,000 - $50,000
